FUNDED PROPOSALS

ABSTRACT

Evaluation of LVN to BSN/RN Program Collaboration and Strategic Planning

The purpose of this proposal is to conduct a feasibility and exploratory study to determine the availability of clinical resources (structural and human) as well as to describe the student population in the Rio Grande Valley. Collaboration is planned with experts in The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio (UTHSCSA) School of Nursing and The University of Texas-Pan American (UTPA) Department of Nursing. The anticipated outcomes of this partnership include an assessment of capacity for clinical mentors, an assessment of potential student pool and the development of the draft of the CNS curriculum. It is also planned to initiate an agreement for shared faculty and the transfer of courses for credits, definition of university commitments, formulation of a model for implementation, and development of a collaborative grant application to the Department of Health and Human Services (HRSA) for Advanced Education Nursing (AENP) December 2007.
